“I Thought My Slinky New Dress Wouldn’t Make It!”, Pursettes, 1974.

Embarrassment continued as a theme for ads about menstrual products, this time in a narrative, comic-book format illustrated by well-known illustrator Mort Drucker. Because of their streamlined design and lubricated tip, Pursettes were marketed as more discreet and easier to use than regular tampons with bulky applicators. The company also offered a free “compact” for keeping Pursettes unnoticed in a purse.
